Te Haumi o Mataatua Sponsorship Application

Sponsorship Eligibility

1. Individuals or groups that are involved in activities that promote the delivery of traditional Māori sports and activities.
2. Partner with whānau, hapū, kura and iwi to create experiences that embrace identity and contribute to well-being.
3. Champion tikanga and kaupapa Māori perspectives and practices in delivery.
4. Preference is given to applicants who whakapapa, or actively maintain a demonstratable connection to the Mataatua waka.
5. People that reside within the Mataatua rohe.
6. Adults 16 years or older.

‍Scope of Sponsorship

1. Costs associated with travel expenses for representative sports teams or individuals attending a regional, national, or international event.
2. Travel or administrative costs (excluding team registrations) for teams or individuals that are attending or representing Mataatua in regional or national events.
3. Individuals and/or teams that are promoting or organising community events which promote Te Ao Māori health and well-being.
4. Sport administrators/coaches or managers that have an event/activity at a Regional or National level that contributes to the delivery of Māori sports activities.
5. Other kaupapa at the discretion of the Trustees.

1. Applications to be received in writing and/or via the MST online application process or Email your application to Heather Balcombe: admin@mataatuasports.co.nz  
2. Applicants are encouraged to seek endorsement by a local kaumatua/kuia.
3. Successful applicants will be required to provide proof of bank account details.
4. Successful applicants will be required to provide estimates/quotes and/or proof of payment/expenditure of the sponsorship costs being requested. 
5. Successful applications will be required to provide a brief post event report (outlining key outcomes, numbers of attendees and/or photos etc).
